It is heart-warming to receive feedback about The One Box and recipients Hyam and Mamka recently shared the impact of The One Box on their families:
‘Having fresh food eases some of the financial stress of feeding a family of five kids. Sometimes the kids look at me and ask ‘Aunty, why do you have nothing in here?’
Having access to The One Box means there is more food in the house all the time.’ (Hyam)
Mamka and her family also receive The One Box. She is originally from Sudan and has lived in Brisbane for 12 years. With the cost of living in Brisbane rising in her time living there and with a family of four kids under 14, Mamka appreciates having access to The One Box. The program reduces the strain on her family budget and means that importantly, “the kids have healthy food in their lunch boxes at school.” She also enjoys going to the community centre to pick up The One Box where she feels that good people are always there to help her and her family.
