The team from The One Box were excited to hear about the recent launch of a Food Relief Framework Report in Western Australia.
Led by the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), the comprehensive report provides a roadmap for improving outcomes for people and families who experience food insecurity.
The report identified that major transport and infrastructure gaps in WA currently limit the ability of food relief organisations to meet the needs of people experiencing food insecurity, especially in regional and rural areas.
Fortunately, The One Box model leverages The Fruit Box Group’s storage and logistics infrastructure in order to get fresh, nutritious food to families experiencing hardship and adversity.
Whilst our program currently has a small footprint in WA, we will be looking for further opportunities to work with others at the forefront of this work, in WA and beyond.
The Fruit Box Group is proud to share their expertise, resources and supply chain to drive this efficient, dignified and healthy food relief program.
The One Box team agrees with comments made by WACOSS staff members upon the release of this report: that food insecurity is the responsibility of everyone and requires the commitment of all sectors.
Good, basic nutrition should not and cannot just rely on acts of charity.
