A delectable snack or dessert option that the whole family will enjoy and a great way to use up bread that is a day or two old.
Ingredients
8 slices stale bread, crusts removed Butter
1 large apple, cored and sliced thinly
1 large ripe banana (or two small)
4 large eggs
2½ cups milk
1 tablespoon cinnamon ground
¼ cup raisins or sultanas
1-2 tablespoons brown sugar
Cooking Method
Step 1. Preheat your oven to 180ºC.
Step 2. Cut the crusts from the bread and butter both sides.
Step 3. Arrange in a square cake tin or casserole dish placing a slice or two of apple and banana between each piece of bread.
Step 4. Scatter over the raisins or sultanas.
Step 5. In a blender or food processor blend the eggs, milk and cinnamon until well combined.
Step 6. Pour mixture over the bread and sprinkle the brown sugar on top. Bake for 30 minutes or until it is set and golden on top.
